Artist Statement

Growing up, art has always been an interest to me. Seeing the beautiful pieces artists were able to create was such an inspiration. I vaguely remember taking an art class when I was of a very young age, and keeping my own sketchbook. As high school approached I knew art would be a class I was interested in taking. When first starting in art media 1&2, I was exploring what I was able to do, and comfortable with. As I reached honors art I have found that I’m still searching for that comfort. Some are very lucky, in which art comes very easy to them. I feel as if I really have to work at it sometimes. I really enjoy doing/taking art classes but there is much that I wish to improve. During my years in high school, and art classes I hope to achieve a level where I am content with my work and my abilities. One other task I wish to accomplish is to get my ideas in my head out on paper. I always feel as if I have a great idea, but when trying to express what I’m feeling or thinking, it never turns out quite as I wish. But as of now, I feel I am still exploring what I am capable of doing, and the art I appreciate creating.

The art pieces I am currently working on are mostly just the projects we are assigned, these consist of abstract, textual, and diptych pieces and also working on small cards. In my sketchbook, I am currently exploring different ideas in art. Finding out what excites me most, or what I believe I am best at. I love being able to see others work and techniques. It helps to give me ideas as well .I may not be the best artist, but I really enjoy making art and to me, thats all that matters.
